Keep your PC cool

Your computer should be cared for physically. You need to keep it clean and the intake and exhaust vents should be open and clear at all times. Do not put it somewhere or in a position where it cannot breathe. It needs to breathe to keep its cool.

TIP: If you are not sure if it is cool and comfortable, do the following:

  • For a laptop computer just put your hand across the keyboard in a couple of different spots and take note of the temperature.
  • If it’s a desktop computer, put your hand on the very top of the computer cabinet that houses the electronic components and see how hot it is. I like a cool computer.

Heat is one of the main causes for laptop or desktop computer failure. Heat can slowly cripple and then kill your computer. Computers, like most electronics, like to be brought up to their preferred operating temperature and left there. A stable temperature maximizes the operation and life of the machine.
